New York to Home

WOW. In addition al to everything I was doing for work, I was able to spend some time really enjoying New York. It really hellped that I had a friend with me, and was able to find my way to some great events and parties. Although I was unable to stay for Pride itself, I was able to enjoy some of the pre-pride festivities (most of it on the company dime... woo hoo!).

Some observations:

Just because you paid for 1st Class, doesn’t mean you have any.

If you chose to fly into New York looking like both a crack whore and a roid bunny, you will pull off neither look well. I happened to see someone I know from the “old days.” She obviously missed the memo that Roided Tina Freak is no longer a popular look in New York.

Combats boots need to come back into style. Not because they are stylish, but because they will protect your feet from the afformentioned Roided Tina Freak in the dance club.

I have totally found a new favoirite hotel. Possibly two. The DREAM hotel, while fun the first couple of times... no more.

If it is under $100, then the upgrade to first class if worth it on a two hour flight if you are 6’1”. I still feel like it should be reimburasable by my company. Physical abuse by the person in front of me playing with their recliner is more painful than a $100 upgrade.

Chicago to New York

I know these postings a really boring. Promise to be better when traveling is done.

I got home for a couple of hours, looked at a stack of mail, signed my lease for one more year in my apartment.

Emptied the suitcase of all my “Festavarian” clothing and filled it with the corporate drag. 4 hours of sleep later, I am up, and off to O’Hare for 4 days in New York. WOO!

The Road to Chicago

We have been in the car all day so we can get from Telluride to Denver International Airport on time.

My butt hurts.

Growing On Me

Yeah, I bought the entire album, but was not that impressed when I first (and second, and third) heard it.

I bought it because I think I am required to. They will take away my “gay card” if I don’t.

But you know, if you listen to it enough, it might just start to grow on you a little bit.

What I Am Listening To

It is a really busy weekend for me with design. I am working on a huge project... a 32 Page Program. I feel like I am back at the magazine (without the massage therapists, escorts, and porn stars interupring my day).

Here is what I am listening to while working:

I'm Voting Republican Because

|

I am an undecided voter.

I made a conscious decision to not comment about the Democratic primaries. I did my duty, I voted. I will do it again in November.

Right now there is another contest at Consumerist that might also go to the wire. Consumerist is running the “Worst Company in America” contest. We are in the sweet 16, and a pairing is up that I can not decide on. I am officially an undecided voter.

Talk about a dream ticket for the worst company in America!

I'm Moving To Kenya!

“A propensity for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) might be beneficial to a group of Kenyan nomads, according to new research published in the open access journal BMC Evolutionary Biology. Scientists have shown that an ADHD-associated version of the gene DRD4 is associated with better health in nomadic tribesmen, and yet may cause malnourishment in their settled cousins.”

Design Star

Matt-Locke-bio_e
If you have read my profile, then you know that I am not a big fan of Reality Television. I have not seen a full episode of Survivor, So You Think You Can Dance, or Amazing Race. I do record record the last two episodes of Project Runway and then fast forward to the end.

Tonight changes all that, because I just finished programing the Season Pass for HGTVs Design Star. My friend Matt is one of the contestants. We went to high school together, and following college renewed our friendship.

(And yes, I kinda had a crush on him... he’s cute).

Check out HGTV’s Design Star on Sunday evening.
